Harry Potter star Emma Watson announced earlier this week that she was taking time out from university because juggling her studies with acting and "other commitments" was proving "a little impossible".
A first look at her latest fashion collaboration, however, reveals that those "other commitments" don't appear to be suffering at all.
The first 'Pure Threads by Emma Watson Alberta Ferretti' collection comprises two dresses, a shirt, a maxiskirt and denim shorts, all adorned with lace embroidery to create a romantic, summery feel.
"I'm pleased that a luxury brand such as Alberta Ferretti has decided to create ecological clothes," Watson told WWD . "I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry, but also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology."
Ethical fashion is an issue close to Watson's heart; part of the proceeds from the Pure Threads collaboration will be donated to the Fair Trade fashion label People Tree, for whom she previously designed three collections.
"I'm grateful Emma accepted this creative partnership that can contribute to fashion and to the health of the planet," said Ferretti. "She's an actress I've followed since her early days. I like her freshness, her spontaneity and simplicity. She is intelligent, with a strong personality, a young, modern girl of today but aware of social issues at the same time and very rigorous."
The pieces will be sold exclusively online at albertaferretti.com , from the end of March, and in keeping with the ecological values, even the packaging will be organic.
