18 JUNE 2009

The teen actress’s smouldering sultriness in the new Burberry campaign would send even Harry Potter for a cold shower. So we asked celeb make-up artist Chase Aston to tell us how to recreate the look…

Start with a cream-to-powder foundation for a matte look, which also gives a more flawless, natural finish, especially on young skin and even more so when you use a large face and body brush to apply, blending from the centre of the face outwards and down, along the jaw-line and onto the neck.
Try The Body Shop All-in-One Face Base.

For deep, smoky eyes, line along the top and bottom lashes, all around the eye and on the lower inner lid, too, with a charcoal/grey coloured pencil.
Try The Body Shop Eyeliner in Taupe.

Now take an eyeshadow blender brush and a black eyeshadow and blend from the lash line up to the crease of the lid. Continue below the lower lashes, smudging and blending into the skin. Then take a creamy coloured shadow and apply along the brow bone.
Try The Body Shop Eye-Colour in Soft Black and Eye-Colour in Vanilla Cream.

The eyebrows are heavily defined in the pictures, which helps give them that retro, almost 1960s feel. Use a pencil in dark-brown to shape and fill the brows with short, feathery strokes, gradually building up the colour until they look quite dramatic.
Try Christian Dior Powder Brow Pencil in Dark Brown.

Curl eyelashes and apply three coats of thickening, lengthening mascara. Again, for extra drama that really makes the eyes the centre of attention and a retro feel, add false individual lashes to the outer corners of the upper lids.
Try Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara in Black and Eylure Naturalites Intense False Eye-lashes.

For a barely-there wash of colour on the cheeks that doesn’t detract from the eyes, take a large blusher brush and sweep a pale-pink powder blush over the apples of the cheeks and along cheekbones as you smile to highlight the prominent part of your cheeks.
Try Dr Hauschka Blush Duo in Pink.

As the whole look is quite 1960s and matte, you need to finish with a matte lip colour, too, which means the surface of the lips has to be perfectly smooth so use a lip exfoliator first to get rid of dry, flaky skin and wipe clean with a moist tissue. Apply a nude lip colour with your finger, patting and smoothing the colour into your lips so they almost blend into your skin.
Try The Body Shop LipScuff and Revlon Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude.
