'Harry Potter' Star Emma Watson And Logan Lerman To Star In 'Perks Of Being A Wallflower'
Posted by MENDEM at 10:45 PMEmma Watson is looking to tackle another young adult novel that captured the minds of a generation, but this one doesn't involve wands and broomsticks. According to Variety, the 20-year-old actress is in talks to join the cast of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" as the romantic interest, Sam. This would be her first feature role beyond the "Harry Potter" series.
Another young fantasy star, Logan Lerman, is also in talks to play the story's main character, who nicknames himself "Charlie" for anonymity. The 18-year-old is best known for his work as the titular lead in "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief," and has been cast as D'Artagnan in Paul W.S. Anderson's new adaptation of "The Three Musketeers."
Author Stephen Chbosky has written the script for the film and will also direct it, which we're shocked and pleased to hear. Stephen isn't new to the business as a writer (he wrote the screenplay for "Rent" as well as many episodes of "Jericho"), but he only has one directing credit to his name: 1995's "The Four Corners of Nowhere" which he directed, wrote and produced.
