She may be a seasoned wearer of eye-wateringly tight dresses, but it appears even Katy Perry can suffer pangs of feeling self-conscious.

Arriving in Australia to promote her new album Teenage Dream earlier today, the American singer found her hemline a bit too short as she bent down to hug a young fan.

Chatting to some young fans on a shopping trip in Sydney today, the 25-year-old found herself wishing her little red dress was a bit on the longer side.Wearing a thigh-grazing animal-print dress and spiky shoe boots, the pop star stopped by the Wheels & Doll Baby Boutique in the central Sydney region of Surry Hills.

But after complaining it was 'cold' upon arrival due to Sydney's current winter weather, Perry covered up her tanned legs with a pair of tights.

Perry was treated to a private tour of the store by owner Melanie Greensmith, who showed off the latest designs.

The California Gurls is a huge fan of the vintage-style boutique, which is also popular with stars including Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese and Deborah Harry.
